You'll Think of Me by Lucia Franco
With his thick southern drawl and seductive charm, Luke is the country boy everyone adores. He has his future mapped out, but his plans with Olivia are suddenly derailed when she makes a decision that blindsides him, changing the path they both envisioned.
As Luke struggles to keep everything in check during a difficult time in his life, he must put his trust in the one person who broke it to begin with. The last time they saw each other, Olivia busted his heart wide open, turning him into the man he is today.
When Olivia returns to her roots, just like Luke said she would, he is shocked for more reasons than one. Nine years have passed since they've seen each other, and when their roads collide unexpectedly, Luke can only push his worry and misgivings away for so long.
Things are different now—they are strangers—and the rope that once bound Olivia's heart to South Fork, Georgia is pulling her back in, forcing her to remember how it used to be all those years ago.
Emma - 4 Crowns
This is Lucia Franco's debut novel and having read the blurb it really appealed to me. I am a total sucker for a second chance romance, so I really looked forward to diving in.
Olivia is a Neurologist living in New York. Fed up with the hustle and bustle of being a single girl in a big city, the time has come for her to return to her roots and head back home to Georgia. Georgia though holds mixed memories for Olivia. On the one hand she has amazing memories of the 4-years spent with her first and true love, Luke in their hometown South Folks, spending time at the lake and living a carefree existence. However the overriding memories are of a questionable childhood with adoptive parents and of course the collapse of her relationship with Luke.
The acrimonious split with Luke has had repercussions on all her relationships and she has never been able to move on. Heading back to Georgia only brings that back to the forefront of her mind. Yes she is successful in her chosen career, but that came at a price for Olivia and that was leaving Luke behind. He never wanted or supported her desire to leave for New York, but leave she did and Luke cut all ties.
So what will happen when Olivia moves home? With Luke now a Country Singing sensation, the likelihood of bumping into him will be slim... right? And when she meets a tall, dark and seriously hot patient Nate, has she finally found someone that can make her forget Luke and the past... maybe? I will leave you to answer those questions :)
I really enjoyed this book. For a debut it really shows off Lucia's potential. I loved all three of her main characters. They were fun and light but did have a serious side to them that fit with the storyline and general feel of the book. I think she has also cleverly made this into not just a second chance romance but actually a story that had a very slight love triangle feel to it. Don't get me wrong there is no cheating,(Thoughtless style) it is just a hint of flavour she has added to spice it up a bit. I will also say at this point that I really loved Nate, you expect him to be the 3rd wheel for want of a better word. However when I started to see where the story was going, I found myself really routing for him; so don't be fooled, he is very much an integral part of this story. Eventually, in steps Luke. Being a independent woman myself, I absolutely loathed his actions and the way he treated Olivia when they were younger. Once you grow up though you realise that when you act in haste you truly do repent at leisure; Luke's decisions are a real testament to this. It will be a hard choice for Olivia to make, or will it? It will leave you guessing for a lot of the book; another thing about this read that I enjoyed.
If I am being super picky, not being a huge fan of back and forth timelines - I would have liked slightly less of it. That is however a personal thing and doesn't detract from what is a very enjoyable book by yet another talented new author. I also feel that this books has legs...(not literally! ;)) I can think of at least 3 characters stories that I would be interested to read more about. I don't know if that is intentional, however it is certainly worth thinking about Lucia (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!!)
If you enjoy your second chance romance, You'll Think of Me is definitely worth 1-clicking.
