When We Met

by A.L Jackson, Molly McAdams,

Tiffany King and Christina Lee

Today’s premiere New Adult authors combine their talents to tell four original stories from inside one house.
When four girls decide to live off campus together as juniors at a college in Michigan, they expect it to be their best year yet. Little do they know, it’s a year that will change the rest of their lives.
BEHIND HER EYES by A.L. Jackson
Unable to live down her ex-boyfriend’s deception, Misha is determined to avoid betrayal. When, the new guy next door, Darryn starts to get under her skin, her defenses start to crumble. But trusting Darryn seems impossible, especially if he’s not sure he can trust himself.
SAVING ME by Molly McAdams
On the outside, Indy is always ready for a party—but inside she’s breaking. Kier makes a weekly routine of saving the girl next door from herself on Saturday nights… but when will she be ready to remember him on Sunday morning?
FOULING OUT by Tiffany King
Working at a sports bar, Courtney has become a pro at sidestepping propositions from arrogant jocks—which makes her a more elusive catch for campus basketball star Dalton than he expected. But when he falls for the saucy waitress, Dalton will have to rethink his game plan to prove he’s not the jerk Courtney expects.
In order to ace her fashion internship, Chloe must team up with local college dropout and set builder, Blake—much to her chagrin. But after some "hands-on" experience, Chloe will have to ask herself if Blake factors into her carefully laid plans…

I admit that I tend not to read Anthology's. Either because I don't know some of the authors or because I have read some of the books included. When I was asked to review When We Met I jumped at the chance. Okay, I hadn't come across any books by Christina Lee and Tiffany King but I absolutely adore Molly McAdams and A.L Jackson, these are all new stories and I love a good college romance; I had a good feeling about this book.

This book is less an Anthology and more a collection of 4 short stories/novella's. What makes this so different is that this is a complete story. That doesn't mean that the stories are collaborations, because they're not. What these authors have done is set the scene collectively and then written their own stories within that framework.

The book is about 4 friends and housemates, living and at college in Ann Arbour, Michigan. Misha, Indy, Chloe and Courtney have their own stories about meeting a man; some at an unlikely time and some in an unlikely place. All the stories are heart warming and each is very different. Each girl have their own issues and insecurities that many girls have at some stage, but each of them will find love and security with either a Jock, a Drop-out, a Loner or a bad boy. I will leave you to find out which one.

I really enjoyed this book, the authors wrote their own stories but they also made sure they blended into each others, which gives the book a complete feeling to it. Some stories were deeper than others but all had a very specific message and the authors get those messages across very clearly. Would I have liked the stories to be longer, hell yeah; but that was only because I enjoyed each and everyone. As a reader I am sure you will have your favourite and yes before you ask, the same goes for me. The best bit for me was that my favourite was by an author I hadn't read before. I loved Beneath Your Layers by Christina Lee. It has everything I love in a book, in particular a good dose of angst and good old sexual tension. That doesn't take away from the other stories though. You will love Darryn in Behind her eyes, Kier in Saving me and Dalton in Fouling Out. But for me Blake was the man!

A unique twist on a Anthology and a great introduction to 4 very talented authors. I highly recommend this if you like your NA reads to have a grown up college vibe - I enjoyed it, I am sure you will too
