Book 1 in the Devil's Dust MC series.

So once again I find myself reading an MC romance; YAY! The question is, will it float in a sea awash with some fantastic reads or will it sink like a stone in what is becoming a very popular (and my favourite) genre? Time to get my life jacket on and find out.

What Doesn't Destroy Us is Dani's story. Living in New York with a controlling and critical mother, Dani struggles to assert her personality and independence. Having never known or been able to ask about her father, life is pretty empty and lonely. When one night her mother tells her to pack up and leave New York; her life as she knows it changes. Running from Stevin, her mother's partner and apparent cop killer; her mother turns to Bull, President of Devils Dust MC and the father Dani has never known for protection.

Arriving in L.A, life is about to do a 180 on Dani. Introduced to a father that was unaware of her existence, continued domination by her mother and entering a lifestyle that is as far removed from everything she is used to will be a challenge. The biggest challenge however comes in the form of Shadow, Sargeant at Arms of the MC and the hottest man she has ever laid eyes on.

I need to stop right there as anymore will just give away spoilers for this fantastic book; my lips have to remain sealed I'm afraid. At first this book may give you the impression that it's just another same ole MC Romance. Wrong! This is in fact a very unique story that is very well written and thought out and that completely threw me if I am being really honest. I didn't expect the twists and turns, or indeed the way the storyline developed.

The characters are just fab. Both Dani and Shadow are amazing protagonists with a depth you don't expect. They both have real light and shade which just adds to the fantastic characterisation. They are two damaged and dark souls that are drawn to each other. I loved the relationship that they fight to firstly avoid and then pursue. It was again unique in its depth and direction. I won't stop there though as Ms Forgy has created this whole array of brilliant characters. I didn't find one weak link in the whole cast of bikers, whores and baddies. I particularly liked Bobby, he added lighter moments in a dark storyline.

This book is Ms Forgy's debut and I am completely shocked by that. I can only say that alongside her very talented storytelling, she must have put a huge amount of time, planning and research into her work. It ensures that we, the reader, get more than a fluffy story about a gun toting, leather wearing, bike riding Alpha. She has created a wonderful story with gritty characters and substance and I applaud her for the end result. I do however want to bash her over the head with my kindle for ending the story where she has. Don't get me wrong it is bloody genius, but really? Please do not make me wait to long I beg you. I need book 2 soon as I know it is going to be bloody EPIC!
