Walk Through Fire (Chaos #4)
By Kristen Ashley
Book 4 in The Chaos series. This book can be read as a standalone, and although there is a series story arc that does run in the background it won’t ruin your reading experience. However, I would still recommend reading the series as a whole as this club and its members are too good to miss.
Logan “High” Judd has just come out of a 13 year marriage that was always loveless, but that gave him his two beautiful girls who he adores. A member of the Chaos MC for over 20 years, he lives, eats and sleeps his club whilst never allowing himself to get too close to anyone. When a ghost from his past reappears, the hurt and betrayal that shattered his world 20 years ago soon resurface. The love of his life ruined him when she turned her back on him all those years ago, changing the person he was forever. Now she is back and all he can think of is revenge.
Millie Cross is a 41 year old woman that has never been able to move on from her first and only love. Logan Judd was IT for her. They were blissfully happy for 3 years, both with each other and with the Chaos MC that became a family to her. When she sees him by chance, she is blown away by the effect he still has on her broken heart. She knows she owes him an explanation, and realises that until she closes that door she will never be able to move on with her life.
There is a fine line between love and hate. How can High and Millie move forward when they are so consumed with their pasts? And will the club ever forgive a woman that wrecked a loyal brother and betrayed the love they had for her.
KA is the bloody MC bomb. I love this series and she never lets me down with the stories she creates for these rough, tough men. She has definitely gone deeper with this book. This is less about the politics surrounding the club and more about the heart of it. How they support the members and welcome and protect the woman they bring in. But hurt one and you hurt them all.
I fell in love with High. He has always been a mystery and we really begin to understand why as you turn the pages of his story. I loved that it was a second chance romance, but one that would be hard earned. High is seriously bitter with Millie, so when she reappears he is angry and he can’t control it. He in turn hurts Millie and it just makes the story so much more emotional when we finally learn why Millie broke not just High’s heart but also her own. Believe me, at times you will want to kick them both into touch.
Of course, the rest of the MC are ever present, and I just loved the chapters told by Tyra and of course Tack – love that man. I adored Ride Steady and I wondered how she would match its brilliance. For me she has, and she has done that by plotting a great story, with great characters and a great backdrop. Her stories have length to them, so you delve deep. But it’s the fact that she doesn't churn them out that makes all the difference. I hate that I have to wait so long between books, but do you know what? If they were coming thick and fast they wouldn't be nearly as good.
A more emotional, less gritty instalment, but one with lots of heart that will leave you desperate for the next – I can’t wait for Hound and Rush’s stories. I love this club and the whole family vibe it has going for it. One of the best MC series available and one that I can’t get enough of. A MUST READ!
