Ten years after their broken affair, Sebastian and Caroline meet again: this time in very different circumstances, against the background of the war in Afghanistan.
Now a successful journalist, Caroline meets Chief Sebastian Hunter, US Marine. Will this chance encounter rekindle the erotic madness of her passionate affair with a younger man?

A dramatic and stunning conclusion to the Education series - One that is deeply moving, passionate and probably one of the most heartfelt love stories I have ever read.
This is a tale of endurance, courage and sacrifices made in the name of love as we come full circle on a story that spans over the course of 20 years. At times it was truly sensual and beautiful, while at others it was thwart with difficulties and challenging obstacles. Even with a ten-year time gap in between, it just goes to prove that your soul mate, however near, however far... will always find their way home.
Gone are the innocent and sweet Sebastian Hunter, and the down trodden military wife from book one; instead, Caroline is now a successful journalist for The New York Times who travels the globe reporting on war and conflict. Sebastian is a multi-lingual US Marine, temporarily stationed in Geneva, Switzerland as he helps to prepare civilians (I.e. international press) of the threats and safety implementations needed to work PR on the front line.
Instructed to report on the Taliban/US conflict in Afghanistan, Caroline attends a two-day course to appease the insurers at the newspaper, only to come face to face with her past. The shocking reality that Sebastian had to give up his college dreams to protect her of his Father's threat of exposure, a harsh reminder of the devistation she left behind.
Sebastian has changed. He is still as beautiful as ever but he carries a cold elusiveness, and when he ignores her, it hurts... deeply. Harbouring anger from an unresolved past threatens to destroy the irrevocable love of what was once had. Working through that pain is hard and upsetting for them both and yet their connection remains strong, as the affection they once knew bubbles to the surface.
Then one phone call changes everything…
It seems both Seb and Caro still have a job to do - one that takes them both to Afghanistan. Not only are they fighting to keep their newfound love alive, but fighting for survival....
OMG! What a contrast the sequel is to book one. This book was so diverse, the characters so different in many ways, yet still the same, it was incredible witnessing the transformation - the growth, as they each came into their own. Both professionals - proud and strong, albeit broken in their own way, never finding peace or refuge in another.
Sebastian... that innocent boy was gone, and yet through all his indiscretions, he never forgot his Caro, she was and always will be it for him, but working through the emotions, and finding the will to forgive, of putting trust again in the one person who broke you was never going to be easy.
From a European road trip to the frontline, Sebastian and Caroline's story is one that stood the test of time and I have come out of this series completely in awe and euphorically happy to have experienced it.
I am now officially a Jane Junkie!!!
Amazing series. Read it!
