The Allure of Dean Harper (Allure, #2)
by R.S Grey
Book 2 in The Allure series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading book 1, The Allure of Julian Lefray first. The main characters in this book are featured quite a bit in book 1 and it made this read all the more enjoyable as I felt I already knew them and their back stories.
Lily Black has finally made the move from a back water town in Texas and joined her best friend Jo in NYC. She has been so excited about the move, that the fact she doesn't have a job hasn't worried her… until she arrives of course. Her food blog, doesn't yet pay the bills and if she wants to be taken seriously and make it big in the restaurant industry, then applying for a job at one of Dean Harper’s restaurants is a no brainer.
He’s Julian best friend, so surely they will get on like a house on fire… won’t they?
Dean Harper has made millions and has done exactly what he set out to do when he arrived in NYC from Iowa many years ago. Now at 33, he is a well- respected entrepreneur and owner of some of the best and most successful restaurants in the city. A different woman graces his arm and his bed every night and that is the way he likes it. A control freak, he is fastidious when it comes to the running of his restaurants. So when he returns from trip home to Iowa to find a blonde bombshell that he hasn't authorised behind his bar, the arsehole in him kicks in. When he later finds out this is Lily, Jo’s best friend he is almost repentant… and then she opens her mouth.
I LOVED this book. I was so excited when I found out that Dean was getting a book. I loved him in book 1 and couldn't wait to watch the playboy in action. To pair him with Lily was a stroke of bloody genius. Jo and Julian’s book was fantastic, and usually I would worry that a second book wouldn't reach the same heights. But do you know what, for some reason I knew this book would be equally as good.
R.S. Grey has chosen a completely different angle with this storyline and it totally suited what I already knew about these characters. 2 head strong, stubborn and independent protagonists’ makes for a bubbling pot of sexual chemistry that threatens to explode. It was funny, contained classic quick witted lines and serious amounts of sexual tension. This author seriously knows how to create a story that you don’t want to put down. Her characters are funny and charming and just so bloody loveable. The storyline was engaging and I was sad when I turned the final page, knowing I was bidding these fabulous characters good-bye.
A great sequel and a series I will remember for not only introducing me to the talents of R.S. Grey, and for being funny, sexy and spot bloody on! – A MUST READ!

Subject: You’re a flippin’ idiot
Good morning my dear, naive friend,
I hope you’re enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.
Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c'mon Jo, his ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.
He's the type of guy that only hears the word “no” when it's followed by “don’t stop.”
Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil…and before you say anything, I don’t care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn’t for sale.
