She meets Ryker, a member of the Four Horsemen and they start a fun, sexual fling. Book 1 in the Four Horseman MC series.
It is no secret that I have a serious weakness for MC books. I love the grittiness, the violence and the club politics; you won't get that from this book. What you will get is a really sweet love story between a woman and a guy who happens to be a member of the Four horseman MC.
Ryker is a biker named after a character from Star Trek; due to his tendency to boldly go where no man's gone before; usually women. On a night in Perdition, the MC's bar, he notices a woman in pink looking decidedly out of place. As his name sake suggests, he approaches the woman and is surprised to meet a beautiful, red headed and very voluptuous, Elizabeth. This one has a little more backbone and spark than the usual Hellion's he prefers to spend time with, but he is right up for the challenge.
Elizabeth is a librarian. Escaping the wedding of her best friend Lisa to her ex and only boyfriend Carl; she stops at the nearest bar she can find. Unfortunately that just happens to be the local MC's bar. Having heard rumours of this outlaw club, she decides to keep her head down and just have a drink to forget the shittiest day ever. It was always going to be hard though when you are wearing the most hideous bright pink bridesmaid dress; so of course she soon find herself being approached. What she doesn't expect is to be approached by this Greek god of a man, and she soon finds herself thinking very delicious thoughts about him. After hustling him at Pool, she finds herself on the back of his bike. Maybe its time to live a little and enjoy the moment; after all someone like Ryker couldn't possibly interested in little old her... or could he?
Will Elizabeth change the habits of a life time and enjoy what this man is happy to offer her? Will Ryker be able to convince himself that this is all about sex? And when someone starts hassling Elizabeth, will Ryker be willing and able to protect her?
I really did enjoy this book, even though this is very much on the softer side of the genre. As I've said, I love the grit and edge that come with these type of reads, however I am also a sucker for a good love story and this is an enjoyable one.
Elizabeth is a nice girl, having a nice life without any excitement. Ryker gives her life a thrill and not just in the bedroom. Even though she is apprehensive of his background and his club, she doesn't judge, she just goes with the flow. You would expect a character like this to be submissive but actually she isn't. Pinky (her pet name) is confident enough to call Ryker out on his shit, and boy does she need to.
Ryker is a super cool. Dominant, Alpha, possessive - the list could go on... I loved him and I just found him a great character to read about. Being honest, I couldn't put up with someone like him in real life, but that's why these type of characters are so cool to read about. I loved how Elizabeth exposed the softer side in him, a side that even he didn't know existed. He is anti relationships of any description, but the lust that he has for his Pinky is out of control and he finds himself doing and saying things that he never thought possible.
They are totally likeable protagonists and the secondary characters Ms Rayne has created are equally colourful whether in a good way or for 1 particular character, bad!
Okay, so if I'm being totally honest it was all a bit quick; I would have liked a little more substance, particularly when it came to the club... but maybe that's because I like my MC reads pretty hardcore. I certainly wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for that type of book because no matter how much I enjoyed it, it isn't that by a long shot.
What you will get though is a hot and sexy love story with a complete caveman of a hero and a heroine with spunk... A really easy, fast paced and light read. I will certainly look forward to reading book 2, which will be Cowboy's story.
A perfect holiday read!
