Roustabout (Traveling, #3)

by Jane Harvey-Berrick

Synopsis

*Roustabout is the third book in the Traveling Series, but can be read as a standalone.*

Roustabout is a story of life, love, brotherhood bound by friendship that runs thicker than blood. I've said it before and I will say it again; Jane Harvey-Berrick doesn't just do romance, this isn't another formulaic bad boy meets rich girl contemporary read but an intricate, beautifully weaved life experience.

From an abused boy to a hard working roustabout runaway, Tucker McCoy is an incredible talent that has pledged to never be used as a scapegoat again. He may be a player with the ladies, but deep down Tucker's actions stem from a family who didn't love him and a betrayal that cut so deep his outlook on life in general was to make the best of what you had, grab on to every freeing opportunity and enjoy the ride.

It worked... for a time, until Tera Hawkins, half sister of Hawkins Daredevils' leader, Kes entered the fray.

Tera is looking for a little danger and some harmless fun. Being the Daughter of a politician looking to make office comes with responsibilities and a carefree shackle. Tucker McCoy is sexy, funny and incredibly talented and Tera can't take her eyes off of him. He is the perfect itch to her scratch.

When one night together manifests into a friendship built on honesty and affection, Tera learns that not everything is at it seems as she starts to question everything she thought she knew about her Father.

From family fiasco's to past indiscretions and the scary notion of finding love in a person that is the polar opposite is a battle you choose to fight... or sadly, walk away from.

And I walked this story with Tucker and Tera. Side by side I revelled in their connection, their ability to sense, to feel more given the challenges thrown at them from both family angles and the one in-between. But what I loved most about this book is Tucker and Tera's journey may be thwart with obstacles and insecurities, but every one was met with maturity and a common ground respect. You will find no annoying heroines here, just a tough one!

The sex is off the charts, but it is the characterisation that reels me in every time. Having now read this third book in the Traveling series I can honestly say that the Hawkins Daredevils exist. To me they are a strong impenetrable unit that show us what it means to be part of a family; a family that chooses you, that accepts you as you are and has your back at every opportunity. Just like the Goonies... Carnies never say die!

We get to connect with the lovely Kes and Aimee again, along with Ollo, Zef and the sweet little Bo. Characters that I've genuinely missed, welcomed me back with open arms.

If you are looking for a deep profound and exemplary written series with substance then hitch a ride on this Carnie RV... you won't ever want to leave.

Twelve years ago Tucker McCoy walked away from the hell that was his family with not much more than the shirt on his back. No regrets. Never once looking back.

Living his life as a roustabout turned stunt rider with a traveling carnival keeps a smile on his face. His new family are the people he’s chosen to be in his life, the people who travel his road. Kes, Zach and Zef don’t share his blood, but they share his hopes and dreams. Understand his fears and know what makes him tick. They’re his brothers, his real family.

If you keep moving, no one can catch you—it’s a simple rule. So when Tucker crosses paths with Tera Hawkins, he knows he should move on. There’s no woman that’s ever been worth breaking his rules for. Besides, she’s off limits, untouchable. He knows stronger men would walk away, but dammit, he’s always been weak.

All he can offer her is a night she’ll never forget, but will that one taste be enough?

'Roustabout' is the third book in the Traveling Series. Although you will meet characters from the first two books, this is a standalone story featuring one-third of Hawkins’ Daredevil stunt riders, Tucker McCoy.
