Perfect Chaos by Nashoda Rose
I lie to survive.
Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control.
Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart.
I kill for a living.
Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie.
But that ends now.
I've played her game for far too long. Now I think it's time we play mine.

Book 1 in the new Unyielding series. This is separate to the author's Tear Asunder series, although it does feature characters who appear in that series. You do not need to read that series before embarking on Perfect Chaos.
This book has me excited. I loved Nashoda's very dark Rock series Tear Asunder and looked forward to learning more about not just Georgie and Deck who are frequently featured in that series but also meeting and learning more about the boys and security type team that Deck heads up.
Georgie is a 26 year old wild child. Drinking too heavily and partying with the best of them, she works in and owns her own coffee shop. Life should be easy and fun for this seemingly free spirit, however appearances can be deceptive. At 16 Georgie lost her beloved older brother Conner when he was involved in a bomb attack whilst working overseas with his Special Forces team. That was 10 years ago but it feels like only yesterday. To make her life all the more difficult, her brother's best friend who delivered the devastating news has taken on the role of older brother, guardian and general pain in the arse. The cotton wool he wraps her in is suffocating, as is the deep and very real love she feels for the formidable and emotionally stunted Deck.
Deck, 34 and Ex Special Forces lives a very strict, controlled and dangerous life. Dealing with the underworld and working undercover in dangerous situations, he lets no one close and stays emotionally detached from all those in his life... all but one. Georgie is his weakness, the one chink in his armour - having promised his best friend that should anything happen to him that he would step in and protect his sister; it is a job he is dedicated to and he goes to great lengths to ensure that she is protected. The innocent and sweet Georgie though of 10 years has changed and she make his life as difficult as she possibly can. Georgie pushes his buttons and defies him at every turn with her smart mouth and complete disregard for what he trying to do for her. Suspicious of her lifestyle and beginning to question the choices she is making is hard enough on Deck, but it is the feelings he has for her that are now causing him the biggest headache of all; finding it more and more difficult to keep his feelings under wraps.
What is Georgie hiding from everyone? Was the death of her brother the only tragedy to hit her and change her outlook on life? Will Deck finally give into the feelings he buries deep for Georgie? and when threats are made, will he be able to protect her and uncover the secrets that he himself is keeping?
This story doesn't disappoint. Jam packed with mystery and suspense, Nashoda Rose has once again written a fast paced, gritty story with hard hitting and sensitive subject matters. This author really seems to have found her niche and she works it well. This is very different to Tear Asunder but at the same time she has kept a very similar vibe; it certainly has her signature style all over it. I loved the characters and each one has a real depth to them, this doesn't just include the main protagonists but also the array of secondary characters; some of whom we have met before and some who are fresh and new.
What I really like best about this book is how Nashoda has planned it out. This book as well as others she has planned will focus on a different couple per book, however from what I can tell it will be a continuing storyline. So although for all intents and purpose Deck and Georgie's story is tied up, the main storyline isn't and it will continue into book 2; Perfect Rain which will be Kai and London's story.
The start to another brilliant series by a very talented writer, I look forward to the next instalment and recommend it to readers who like their romance to be served with a side of violence, mystery and suspense.
