Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion. She never imagined a Hellion would come along and prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President. Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.
Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle. When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe. The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.
His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision. He sends her away to a charter club, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.
One ride across the country. One simple ride. Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe. She’s off limits, his head knows this, but his body can’t deny the sparks between them. She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless. Constantly in close confines together, can they deny the chemistry? Will they give into the attraction between them? Can one ride turn lust into love?
Emma - 4 Crowns
Book 1 in the Hellion's Ride series.
Once again, I admit to my real addiction: MC Romance. I also have to admit that this book has been sat on my TBR for months; I liked the blurb but something put me off, but more on that later. Having decided to crack on and read it, I have to say I was pleased I finally did.
Delilah or Doll as she is known to her friends is MC royalty. Having lost her mother at an early age, Doll has spent her formative years growing up around The Hellion's MC. Her father Roundman is President and apart from moving away for college, club life is all Doll knows.
We meet Doll at a huge club party; Haywood Hellion's are the founding club and all the lower ranking charters are at the party in force. This is when we are first introduced to Tripp; himself president of a Hellion charter. He immediately spots Doll when he arrives and Doll is also drawn to this hot member whom she has never met before. As soon as Tripp finds out she is Roundman's daughter though he backs off. All brother's know that the Helion's princess is off limits and due to the respect he has for his president, he backs off immediately. That doesn't mean he forgets the beautiful blonde though.
When Doll is directly threatened, Roundman makes the decision to get her away from Carolina. With Delilah in real and immediate danger he calls on one of his most trusted charters to look after her with their life. Yes you've guessed it; with reluctance, Tripp and his cousin and VP Rex take on the job of protection and take both Doll and her best friend Sass on a road trip to escape the dangers surrounding them.
Will they escape the danger unscathed? Will Tripp be able to contain his feelings for Doll, knowing she is off limits? and has Doll found her perfect biker man or just another dirty, rotten scoundrel out for only one thing?
I seriously liked this book. There's a great array of characters without it being too many to keep up with. Delilah/Doll is a proper biker chick. beautiful and loving, she is fiercely loyal to her club and believes it is her destiny to become an old lady. She is not an easily frightened girl and she doesn't take shit; that includes some thrown her way from Tripp. Tripp is a mean and surly biker. Abandoned by his mother at a very young age, both him and his cousin Rex were saved from drifting into a life of drug and alcohol abuse by a chance meeting with Roundman. He has immense respect for his president and his life is his club. He has no intentions of ever having anything other than 1 time hook ups and this is made clear on many occasions.
As I've said, there is a wonderful array of characters and you can feel the author gearing up for the coming books in the series. Sass, Doll's best friend is also a club child; but unlike Doll, Sass feels it's time to spread her wings and start a life outside the club. Rex is Tripp's best friend, cousin and VP. I loved him, total man-whore, I really look forward to his book. You also have Tank, Road captain and someone's future love interest (you'll soon find out if you read this book) and Caroline, Sass and Doll's friend from college.
This really was a good book. I found it fast paced and it kept my interest. It is much less gritty than some MC books. You don't get much violence which I usually love, but what you do get is a love story about 2 people drawn to each other by a chemistry they are unable to control. It is a love story with the feistiness you expect from an MC book. The women are cool and the men are typical badass bikers.
I also loved how the author incorporated characters from other books, most notably characters from Laramie Briscoe's Heaven Hill series.
The only thing letting this story down for me is the cover. The man is just not hot enough and the woman looks like a slut or club whore. Most importantly though, they look absolutely nothing like the authors descriptions of Doll and Tripp. for starters Doll is blonde and Tripp has long hair.. enough said!! I have to be honest and tell you that this is the reason it has sat on my TBR for so long. I am a cover snob and this cover really doesn't do it for me at all.
So with that said, I urge you not to judge a book by it's cover. This is a really enjoyable book and I am seriously looking forward to the next instalment. It did end a little abruptly and without an epilogue, however I guess this is because it will be a continuing story. I just hope book 2 centres around Sass...... or Tank....... or Rex....... or Caroline..... ok, actually I'm not fussy; looking forward to reading about all of them.
