Manwhore (Manwhore, #1)
by Katy Evans
Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?
This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.
Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.
Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.
But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.
What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
'Oh my God! I am in awe. I am totally and utterly besotted. #WhoisMalcolmSaint...Well, I will tell you... #HeisMine.
"Manwhore is beautifully compelling, deeply intense and sexually explosive. Oh yes...Katy Evans is back!" - Kelly, Perusing Princesses.
"He's just a man - a playboy, womaniser, hell, a manwhore - and I just need to store all this information and then write an expose so people can experience what I'm experiencing." - Rachel Livingstone
I don't know where to start, which is genuinely a first for me. I think it's because this was the next billionaire book I've been waiting for. In all honesty, since the explosion of all things successful rich conglomerate alpha businessman, the genre ran its course with me and I tended to stay clear. I didn't want to read about another broken rich suit-wearing playboy, I didn't feel my forever expanding kindle carousel needed it, but that all changed with this book!
Manwhore is, in my opinion, one of the best books in the genre, because not only it is incredibly well written, it lit a dying spark inside of me and I felt it burn. Manwhore set my book loving soul on fire.
Malcolm Saint has arrived!
He is the embodiment of broken and misunderstood, but instead of using his fists, he conquers his enemies by using the power of mind and his cunning, relentless business acumen. Failure is not an option, and the only way to keep his conglomerate running like a well oiled machine is to trust no one. He is revered and highly respected, but also very misunderstood, because for all his successes in the boardroom, it is his extra curricular activities that make the headlines.
Rachel Livingston is a columnist for Edge. What was once a hip and successful magazine about the people, is now under the threat of closure as online bloggers takeover the new digital age. One story is all it will take to get those ratings back and the subscriptions pouring in, and that story is Malcolm Saint; the man, the enigma, the powerhouse behind M4, and renowned Manwhore.
Rachel wants a piece of the elusive gentleman but not in the way one would think, because this expose could not only catapult her career to new heights, it will save the magazine she so dearly loves, she just didn't expect her subject to expose a part of herself that she had been hiding away in a box for far too long.
Never judge a book by its cover, and in this instance, never judge a story by its title, because this book is exceptionally beautiful, as much as it is poignant, sexy and utterly addictive. A story of friendship, trust, and survival in a world that is hell bent on damaging you through incessant gossip rumoured through unspeakable actions. Malcolm is no saint, but deep down he has a heart of gold destined for one woman who has the power to expose it...and she could prove his biggest threat yet.
I can't tell you how many times I was waiting for the penny to drop, my heart in my throat, knowing that whatever happens my happy bubble was destined for a good popping, and that was why this story worked so well; it kept you entertained at a steady pace that has you drowning within the depth of its words. I was drowning and Malcolm Saint gave me the kiss of life. I actually love him. Crazy as it sounds, he is up there with the best of them and book 2 cannot come fast enough for me.
Rachel is somewhat naive but burns with the desire for success and I respected her, although her kink in her armour was her annoying jaded man-hating best friend. I wanted to slam their heads together at times but it proved that she was just human and in a little over her head as far as Mr Saint was concerned.
Manwhore is beautifully compelling, deeply intense and sexually explosive. Oh yes...Katy Evans is back!

Sweet Lord Almighty... thank you for creating Katy Evans and allowing her to give us Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint!
I want to start off by saying right here and right now that... Malcolm is mine!!
Ok, that said, I stand tall and proud and admit that I am obsessed with Malcolm Saint. He is the absolute yin and yan of devil/saint.... the ultimate billionaire playboy, broken soul (thanks to some seriously "effed" up parents). Powerful and incredibly hot alpha that is just consuming my brain! He is the ultimate business powerhouse that wields his mighty sword in a take no prisoners attitude (not only in the boardroom but in his bedroom as well) Women fall to his feet by the hundreds and he knows he doesn't ever have to lift a finger to sow his wild oats. The man has everything... except, Love.
When you live in that type of world, raised without love, people only wanting to be near you for their own selfish reasons, with no one EVER telling you no. How would you know what it is to have love in your life? Sure, you have wealth beyond everyones dreams, but money does NOT buy you happiness, and living in a world surrounded with strangers and nice things, you come to realize that you are completely ALONE!
Enter stage right - Rachel Livingston.... She is a journalist at a quickly dying magazine called Edge.
She os offered a HUGE break for her career when her editor informs her she will be doing an undercover expose on none other than Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint! This story could not only make a name for herself and guarantee her a great career where she could take care of her ailing mother, it would save the magazine itself and everyone's jobs... what to do, what to do?... well she dives in 120% to write the story of a lifetime.
STOP THE PRESSES - Rachel never thought she would get more than 5 minutes with the powerful and untouchable Malcolm but she somehow manages to get a couple of meetings with him, and it doesn't hurt that she also figures out a way to get near him in his world. And it turns out that the innocent and tenacious good girl completely spins Malcolm's axis, and he finds himself doing the unthinkable... searching Rachel out!
An undercover reporter + a billionaire playboy = Hotness, Angst, and a twisted and breathless jump off the cliff freefall that gets your heart racing, your panties soaked, and an ending that you just know will continue with an incredible book 2!!
Ok Katy... bring it on! June can not get here fast enough... I NEEEEEED MORE MALCOLM!!

Book 1 in the Manwhore series.
Rachel Livingston is a reporter on the Chicago based magazine, Edge. This is her dream job and one she has dedicated herself to since graduating from college. With readership in decline and job cuts being made, when she is called in to a meeting she fears the worst. Helen, her editor, surprises her though with the offer of a lifetime. Write a expose on the man of the moment, Malcolm Saint; billionaire business man, party animal and renowned Manwhore. It should be easy, shouldn't it...
When lines get blurred, truths get entrusted and the man that everyone thinks they know, shows his real self. Will Rachel be able to expose him or will he be the one to expose her?
I enjoyed this book. It was certainly a different take on the whole billionaire love story that has been played out over the last few years in different guises. Rachel is a pretty cool character, although one that is addicted to her work and who had little else going on for her. I personally blame that on her best friend and flat mate Gina, who is the biggest man hater I have ever come across.. Jesus, her character seriously annoyed me.
Malcolm is certainly the star of the book and although he didn't exactly make me swoon, I certainly liked his character. Like most billionaire badboys, he has a checkered history and that has effected his take on certain situations in his life. He is however, not the person the press portray him to be and for that reason, Rachel struggles with the task in hand. Is he playing her as much as she is playing him? Well you will just need to read it to find out.
So as I mentioned earlier I certainly liked this book, but I didn't love it. At times I found some characters irrelevant and highly irritating (Gina) and often the writing just didn't flow quite smoothly enough. I did however enjoy the basic storyline and the relationship that developed between the 2 main protagonists. In fact the last 20% was enthralling, hence my 4 Crown rating.
Be warned, it does end on a mighty fine cliffhanger and although I had a few issues personally with the book, I certainly look forward to Manwhore +1 - it's going to be interesting to see where Katy takes it - I just hope Gina gets laid!
