Jacked (Trent Brothers, #1)
by Tina Reber
We all have skeletons in our closets.
Doctor Erin Novak was only sixteen when she was accused of a crime she didn't commit. Since that moment, she has made it her life goal to pursue emergency medicine, pouring her heart and soul into assuring another innocent life isn’t lost to the hands of the wicked.
We all have secrets we've never shared.
Detective Adam Trent has lost control of everything, starting with losing his partner to a punk with a gun and then everything else to the crushing guilt. Now a member of the elite Auto Theft Task Force in Philadelphia, it's his job to be one step ahead of the criminals stealing expensive cars in the city. Too bad the television cameras keep getting in the way of his investigation.
We all have pasts that we can never escape.
A stolen car, a tragic chase, and a traffic stop crosses the fates of these two, tying them together in ways that are unimaginable. As their love and trust grows, so do the enemies that threaten their survival, testing the strength of their commitment. Can true love endure half-truths, past pains, and secrets never meant to be shared?
Some things are just out of our control.
Love Unscripted spin-off featuring Kyle Trent's older brother, Adam.

Oh yes...she's back!! And Jacked was definitely worth the wait!
Tina Reber is like my personal brand of heroin, her books just leave me high. Love Unscripted and Love Unrehearsed blew me away and remains a top favourite of mine, so I was incredibly excited when the news came that there was going to be a Trent Brother's spin-off.
And, WOW...Jacked does not disappoint!
Tina has delivered, in all its unstoppable and addictive glory, another well-written, intricate, emotional and thrilling love story a cut above the rest. You don't just get a love story, you get a life story. You form friendships as you tap into their past while moving forward with them in the present - you not only feel every emotion plaguing each character, you understand them. There is no greater gift, because this is a journey that spans well over 500 pages, and takes you on a whirlwind of every feel imaginable. I'm all about the feels... but they can only really come with great characterisation, flowing dialogue and a plot intricacy that keeps your heart pounding and your brain ticking with anticipation, and Jacked delivered in every category. Damn, this woman can write!
Even though this is a spin-off from the Love series, it can be read as a standalone. Past characters do not play a hand in this story.
So what is this book about? Well, it is a love story at the core, between two characters who are complete polar opposites; each with flaws and insecurities of their own, both highly successful in their own right.
Erin Novak is an ER doctor who has finished her residency training and now works in one of the busiest ER rooms in Philadelphia.
Detective Adam Trent is not only a bad-ass ATTF officer who has dedicated his life to catching hardened auto criminals, but he is also a new face on a cable crime show, and is becoming somewhat of an accidental celebrity. His professional life is monitored at every turn, and it seems to be causing a few problems within his unit.
When a stolen plate is switched and placed on Erin’s new car, their worlds collide when Adam’s unit pull her over on a busy highway. With cameras rolling and the threat of her career in tatters, she believes her day cannot get any worse!
But she is wrong…
With the confusion on the highway, a large pile-up ensues, putting Erin’s skills as an emergency doctor to the test; the tables turn when Adam’s unit help her give crucial first-aid to the victims of an accident that should have been avoided.
Watching a beautiful woman take control stirs something that has laid dormant in Adam for some time, not since his Partners murder has he ever felt the need to let another in, until now.
Erin has sworn off men, she’s had a heart broken too many times, but her career means everything and Adam’s promise to make sure her arrest recording is never aired on TV is one she hopes he never breaks, putting her trust in a man who could not only break her heart, but destroy everything she has ever worked for.
Jacked was such a beautiful reading experience because it builds gradually, allowing you to witness that connection manifest and grow into mutual understanding, trust and respect, even though their relationship from the start is thwart with complications that would have a weaker person running for the hills.
Getting inside the heads of two remarkably broken characters who seemed to have it all on the outside, while fighting their inner demons in silence was a real treat. And can I just say… sexual tension? And when that tension reaches dizzying heights, be prepared for that explosive swarm of butterflies to hit, because wow… it really is orgasmic! :D
Erin and Adam are far from perfect, and both harbour secrets set to put a spanner in the whole workings, and you hope that they beat the odds and make it.
Be prepared to fall hard and fast with this one! Adam Trent… I’m all yours!
