In-Flight (Up in the Air, #1) by R.K. Lilley

When reserved flight attendant Bianca gets one look at billionaire hotel owner James Cavendish, she loses all of her hard-won composure. For a girl who can easily juggle a tray of champagne flutes at 35,000 feet in three inch heels, she finds herself shockingly weak-kneed from their first encounter.

The normally unruffled Bianca can't seem to look away from his electrifying turquoise gaze. They hold a challenge, and a promise, that she finds impossible to resist, and she is a girl who is used to saying no and meaning it.

Bianca is accustomed to dealing with supermodels and movie stars in her job as a first class flight attendant, but James Cavendish puts them all to shame in the looks department. If only it were just his looks that she found so irresistible about the intimidating man, Bianca could have ignored his attentions. But what tempts her like never before is the dominant pull he seems to have over her from the moment they meet, and the promise of pleasure, and pain, that she reads in his eyes.

Kelly - 5 Crowns

WOW. WOW. WOW. Excuse me while I just take a moment...

*and breathes*

I am euphorically awed and a little dizzy right now as this book took me to heights I didn’t quite expect. It has been dubbed by many as the next Fifty Shades of Grey and considering the market is saturated with BDSM erotica as of late, it took a little while for me to grasp onto this series and read it.

WHY? I tell myself! WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!

In-flight is a first-class BDSM alpha dominance love story delivered at the highest of magnitudes.

It’s not just a play on words (yeah..sorry, couldn’t resist), this book is a refreshing tale of two opposites. One shrouded in innocence and skepticism VS a young domineering successful billionaire businessman who is used to getting what he wants. Sound familiar? Well, maybe, but trust me when I say that this is where all connections end because the writing, the flow, the characterization, the setting, the overall plot...everything this book incorporates with relation to dominant/submissive erotica romance is completely different.

Bianca and James meet on a flight between Las Vegas and New York. Bianca is a first-class flight attendant with a penchant for professionalism unrivaled by her other female associates. From the first meeting, they both cannot deny the animal magnetism. The only problem is they are from completely different words. Bianca may have a respectable job and own her own home, but her life now contrasts very differently to that of her past. She doesn’t trust easily, only having one person in her life who knows the real Bianca - her best friend Stephan is her heart, her soul and the only connection to her past.

James holds celebrity status, his success, wealth and refined good looks making him hot property. But James has a secret of his own, and it’s located on the 4th floor. Yes...our new Mr. Beautiful has a playground and his sights are set on Bianca. From the moment he locks eyes with her he just knew she would be the perfect submissive. Her long blond hair, pale skin, blue eyes and long legs don’t hurt either! James, normally the stoic, cold professional hotel owner, is smitten. Bianca renders him speechless and his self-control in tatters. This Swede/American Beauty becomes his new obsession, and James Cavendish always gets what he wants...

From the first date, to their first lovemaking session, Bianca is well aware of James’ position and keeps her guard up. What can a man who has everything, truly want with a girl like her? A girl with a violent past who relives it through incessant nightmares. Her indifference to their ‘serious’ relationship is driving James crazy, as he feels her and his self-control slipping through his fingers.

Setting herself up to fall-in-love was never the objective, but she failed. Besides Stephan, she has never let anyone else in, until now...James is ready to embrace a future with the girl who has captured his heart, but it seems not everyone (including his girl) is on their side...

This book is the beginning of a beautiful journey... Bianca, James and Stephan captivated me from the first page as I learned of their obstacles. Bianca and Stephan have a beautiful friendship and their journey to this point in their life is both liberating and heartbreaking.

James surprised me the most though. I expected the dominance to play a huge part of his character throughout but it didn’t. He had sexual preferences that are well versed in the BDSM spectrum but deep inside he is a loving, emotionally sound male who would do anything for the ones he loves. He was generous in his attentions and never once made any concessions about his intentions or apologised for his lavish behaviour. All the while battling a few demons of his own. Both characters are deeply scarred, yet James' strength and his will to succeed just made me love him all the more.

If you are looking for something along similar lines of Fifty Shades, then you can’t go far wrong with this book. I have jumped on Mile High because I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. This first book does have a slight cliffhanger at the end, but don’t let that deter you! I guess the perks of starting a series a little later on is I have all 3 books locked and loaded on my kindle, so please excuse me... I’m off to reconnect with three characters who I have come to completely adore.
