Book 3 and the final Instalment of The Record series. This is a continual series and cannot be read as a standalone. You must read both Off the Record and On the Record to enjoy this book.
Its always sad when you come to the final book in a series. I always find it so hard to say goodbye to the characters I have become so emotionally invested in. I also worry that a series that I have loved will end leaving me unfulfilled and without the closure that I need. This book however didn't let me down at all and was the perfect final book for me.
At the end of book 2 On the Record, Brady and Liz are back together. They struggled without each other even though they each had different partners in book 2, but they are finally in the place that they want to be; well almost. Having been outed by Hayden, Liz's ex and a jealous ex colleague. Brady and Liz found themselves being forced to go public with their new relationship. This will thrust Liz into the limelight and questions will be asked about the secret affair they had 2 years previously.
Book 3 very much resumes where book 2 finished. Brady is forced to make a public statement as to the status of his relationship with Liz and the press really do descend. Liz will find her life and the relationship and love she has for Brady dissected by the world that she so wants to be part of. The scandal will play a pivotal role in Liz's career and throughout all of this she will need to remain strong and by the side of Brady who is facing re-election into Congress.
Will she be able to cope with the questions and rumours that are thrown her way? Will her relationship with Brady suffer under media scrutiny? and will the Sandy Carmichael scandal damage Brady's bright future in politics?
I can not express how perfectly pitched this book was. Brady is back in Liz's life as well as her bed and I was seriously swooning throughout. The chemistry that K.A Linde has created between these 2 characters is really special. The road is not a smooth one, there are certainly bumps along the way but somehow you feel that these two characters are going to get the HEA they deserve. There wasn't unnecessary drama fr the sake of it, which I particularly like about the book. That drama was very much played out in books 1&2; we didn't need more. This book was about watching them grow as a couple and strengthen each other. It was such a nice read and one that I so wanted for Brady and Liz.
DO NOT let the fact that this book is set in the world of politics put you off. I know next to nothing about U.S politics and it didn't effect my reading experience at any point. In fact I found it a really cleverly thought out backdrop and for me it really added depth to the story and the characters.
I have to say that I would still love to know more about the Maxwell's. Yes Brady and Liz's story has come to a close but I really feel that Clay Maxwell and Savannah Maxwell both have stories that I would certainly love to read about. I hope that K.A Linde thinks about using their characters in any future projects.
Well done K.A on a perfectly executed final book. I have loved every minute of Brady and Liz's journey. I just wish all politicians looked and had the charisma that Brady Jefferson Maxwell III has :)
