Conviction (The Consolation Duet, #2)
by Corinne Michaels
This is the second and final part in the Consolation Duet. This is a continuing story, so you MUST read Consolation before embarking on Conviction. If you haven't, please stop reading this review now as it contains major spoilers for the storyline of book 1.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
What do you do when the man that you have loved since you were a teenager dies? Do you let your soul die along with him? Or do you move on and try and make a life for yourself and the daughter he will never know?
When Natalie was faced with such tragedy, she struggled through the darkness until a light appeared at the end of the dark tunnel she found herself unable to escape. That light came in the form of her husband Aaron's best friend, Liam. They both fought their growing attraction to each other, but when Aaron's secrets and betrayals came to light, they found themselves unable to fight the need to be with each other; the need to love each other.
So what happens when the person who died and who has committed the biggest betrayal to a marriage suddenly reappears? Do you live by and respect your marriage vows? Or do you fight for a love that albeit new, is precious and soul stirring?
This story follows Natalie, Liam and Aaron's journey as they come to terms with both Aaron's rescue after being presumed dead for a year, the relationship that Natalie and Liam developed during that time, and the decisions they each have to make for themselves, and of course the child that is stuck in the middle. Loyalty, friendship, love, hurt and bitterness will play a part. But who will Natalie choose? Or will that choice be made for her?
That's it from me. I can give you no more.
This book caused an absolute tsunami of emotions. I felt the hurt, the pain, the love and the regret. I will be honest and say I wanted to hate Aaron for reappearing and threatening the happiness that Natalie and Liam had finally found together. And this is a fine example of the complete genius mind of Corinne Michaels. I should and wanted to hate him, but do you know what, I just couldn't. Granted, I could have kicked him in the balls at times, but I felt for him as well... Oh man, the angst!
As for Liam and Natalie. Well this is an even tougher journey for them than book 1. Liam, my God, that man makes me swoon. He is such a genuine and honest soul. His loyalty and the love he has for Natalie is never in question, but can it be enough? And poor Natalie. What a situation to find yourself in. She faces both the past, the present and the future. But she does it staying true to herself and her daughter. It could go either way and that is the beauty of the story. Serious emotional overload.
I was blown away by Consolation. When that happens and you are left with an humongous cliffhanger that ended that book, as a reader you can only hope that the storyline continues to build and doesn't fall flat. I assure you, it builds and bloody builds. Well done Corinne for developing this storyline into even more. This is a superb ending to a fantastic duet and is certainly one of my favourite reads of 2015 thus far!! - AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!

I fell in love with Liam only to be left shattered into a million pieces. Again. The idea of being without him cripples me but the reality is, he’s gone.
He doesn’t understand and I can’t make him.
If only he’d see the conviction behind my words—then Liam would still be here.

OMG OMFG!!! This book!!!
If you look up the word "clusterf**k" in the dictionary... I swear to all that is holy you will see a picture of this book cover!
We all know how book one ended... literally OMG.. no way could Corinne Michaels leave us like that right??!! Well she did and she picks this book up EXACTLY at that moment!
What do you do when you have barely survived a traumatic event, only to find love with a man who would walk through fire for you, and you think you might have some happiness in your future... only for your past... your past that was DEAD and 6 feet under to come back SMACK into your present??!! What. Do. You. DO??!!
Can you imagine the insanity? How do you even get your little brain to wrap around something like this... and Corinne doe NOT hold back! She makes you scream and get pissed and want to throw your kindle, only to run as it is soaring through the air to keep reading because there has GOT. TO. BE. an HEA in this... right?
I can not recommend these two books more.. they NEED to be read!!

Conviction is an emotional journey of the heart. A solid and unwavering love story that has the power to overcome the toughest of obstacles whilst staying true and honest to oneself.
Natalie and Liam may have been an accidental coupling, yet one thing is clear - they are soulmates, a love that was meant to be. However, that doesn't mean this is a conventional romance. It is thwart with the biggest challenge of all and one that will do whatever it can to break the foundations on which this epic love was built.
Confusion, frustration, heartbreak, forgiveness, longing, and acceptance. Consolation is a touching and deeply moving story of life. Not only do we see the connection grow between our two leads, but secondary characters play a vital role in making this story complete.
It is impossible to go into a plot overview without giving away the humdinger of all cliffhanger twists from book one, so I am going to leave my short and sweet review here. My advice is read Consolation and Conviction back to back, as they will captivate you from beginning to end.
