Synopsis:

Book #3 of the Consequences Series—

There were still lessons to learn and consequences for the truth!
When Claire Nichols met Anthony Rawlings, she didn’t know they had a past, or that he had plans for her future. Over time, the role of teacher changed—games became reality—and domination turned to desire. Despite an insurmountable history, Claire and Tony found their way back to one another.

Just when they seemed to have it all—love, respect, and the promise of a family—the game master exposed the truth. Claire’s world once again spun out of control. Unwilling to allow her child to suffer the consequences of an old vendetta, Claire fled...

At one time, Claire was held captive in an opulent mansion—then her incarceration was a cell inside a state penitentiary. Was her new prison—a tropical island—truly less lonely? Perhaps that was the game master’s plan, all along?

Who will save Claire from her oldest nightmare and her newest reality? Will it be Tony? Can he forgive her for leaving him—again? Harry? Will he utilize previously unknown connections to save the woman who infiltrates his thoughts? Maybe Phil? Will his devotion in keeping Claire and her child safe be rewarded?

As the cards are played—sins of the past, innocent victims, and truths are revealed. With compartmentalization no longer an option, is the reality too much? Could there be an even worse isolation?

With the game master dealing from a stacked deck, can this new high-stakes game possibly be won?

When it’s all over and their cards are on the table—SOME will discover their bets were too high—they have nothing left to lose—ALL will learn the crucial lesson—the most important rule—there are CONSEQUENCES for the TRUTH!

“I fell in love with you while you were supposed to be my prisoner; however, I’ve loved you since before I knew love existed”… Anthony Rawlings

I won’t deny the first few chapters threw me a loop! I was that deer in headlights...again! I wanted to kick myself silly for not going back and re-familiarizing myself with the array of characters and each one’s plight up to this point - so, for me personally, it took a little while to get completely immersed within this book and appreciate it as it should be. Due to this, please heed my advice and read this trilogy back-to-back if you can. It will help you to experience in its full entirety the impact of a plot so compelling, so complex, it will completely blow your mind!

Due to its intricacy, this is probably one of the hardest reviews I have ever had to write, because it all comes down to this book. Many questions are answered, yet many more are raised right from the start, making it almost impossible for me to highlight those without planting spoilers.

This is what is so great about Aleatha’s magic, she can write a story of countless tragedies, stemming from an old family vendetta, and shroud it in hope, love and forgiveness. How can one man go from public enemy number one, to a husband and a father who will stop at nothing to protect them from someone like himself? All the answers are in Convicted and I have to say, it’s a commendable achievement - one that, as a reader, is quite difficult at times to comprehend... but that is Anthony Rawlings. He will certainly surprise you. In-fact, I was waiting for the old Tony to reappear; as scary as that sounds... a part of me missed his cold and calculating ways.

I disliked Tony in Consequences, but his unpredictability as a character is what kept me hooked. Not knowing what he was going to do next, or where the story was taking you, made for a refreshing surprise, nevertheless, it was also great to watch him grow and finally accept the ‘consequences’ of his ‘actions.’

Claire has always been our main focus throughout it all; this story, although written in third-person, always projected her voice the loudest as we relive her journey from beginning to end. This woman has gone through so much that if she could manifest herself through the written page, she would likely jump out and smack Ms. Romig in the face - Hell, I wouldn’t blame her! Nevertheless, her journey from the innocent college graduate, to the captive bride, to an ex-convict, to a wife and mother is not one I will forget anytime soon; leaving a lasting impression on my book loving heart... and my psyche!

Convicted takes you into the future (2016), only then to fill in the gaps from the past three years. Some revelations will shock and confuse you, where others will have you feeling all fuzzy and warm inside. You will question the story throughout, while automatically turning the pages in hope of getting to the other end, unscathed. Claire and Tony’s journey has been unpredictable from the word GO, and Convicted continues with that theme in the style of cat and mouse. Just when you thought they could possibly have everything they wanted, Anthony makes a decision that has the potential to destroy everything...

Get ready for the ride of your life. Buckle up and hold on tight... but whatever you do, READ IT!!!!
