Genre: Romantic/Erotic Thriller
This book is beyond anything I ever imagined it would be. It has stoked those hidden burning depths that my book loving soul craves. Not many books have managed it, but Beneath the Burn has trumped, exceeded and surpassed. To say I found this book to be truly exceptional would be an understatement because it's just hit 'awe-inspiring 5 star shelf territory'.
This story incorporates every little sinful element I look for in a dark erotica read. It's shocking and downright upsetting in parts, yet powerful - resonating strongly of inner strength, heroism and survival.
Beneath the Burn is no easy read, but it is refreshing! It's devastatingly disturbing in places, yet it's compelling and crafted with such passion and flawless execution, it pulls you in deep, and doesn't let go until the last word whispers through your mind.
I cringed with repulsion. I cried in unison. I laughed devilishly. I angered with bitter resentment. I embraced the burning desire. I conquered the demons. I survived until the very end...I lived and breathed this book!
I fell so deeply for these two broken souls, as I played witness to the horrors they were subjected to at the hand of others, to then gradually pick up the pieces by confronting their fears and putting trust in another.
I loved the message behind the story, it projected itself with unwavering clarity. It speaks of loss and betrayal, of abuse and desperation, but it also speaks of love, hope, and the possibility of second chances... There are so many miles you can run before you circle back to where you started... in order to break the cycle, you must expel the demons, confront them, and they will set you free. Wear your scars with pride... for it is proof that you are strong... that you survived.
If you like to invest quality time in the darker penned works of literature with a crime thriller, BDSM and broken alpha male Rock Star twist, then you certainly cannot go far wrong with this little multifaceted gem.
