Be Careful What You Wish For (Wishes, #1) by Jade C. Jamison
Forbidden desire is just the beginning...
Jessica, a college student struggling with day-to-day bills, is given an offer she can't refuse. A married woman who is convinced that her husband Kage is cheating on her offers Jessica enough money to repair her dying car in exchange for Jessica's attempt to destroy the woman's marriage.
Jessica succeeds but discovers something else--she and Kage are soulmates, destined to find each other.
But as they attempt to carve out their places in each other's lives, Jessica finds herself plagued with doubts, and she begins to suspect that Kage is once a cheater, always a cheater.
Can their relationship survive or was it doomed from the start? This book is inspired by a short story of the same name, found in Jamison's book: Quickies

Be Careful What You Wish For is a heartfelt, sexy and well-written tale of forbidden love with a unique twist. Kelly, Perusing Princesses Blog.
This may be a quick read with fast pace but it packs a punch in all the right places. Jade C. Jamison has taken the literary all-taboo infidelity card and ripped it to shreds, reworked it and created a refreshing, sexy, sinful and thought-provoking read but without going overboard with unnecessary drama. Yes, there is some angst here but mainly due to second-guess work and self-doubt. Once a cheater always a cheater is the general consensus and yet what happens when the person you are paid to lure into sexual entrapment turns out to be your soul mate, your missing half, and the love of your life?
The bitchy wife comes unstuck when she pays the pretty bar girl with financial problems to coax her husband into cheating, it's just a test to find out if he really is the perfect, upstanding Husband he's always promised to be...
What a genius premise, no seriously! I knew this short story was special when it appeared in Jade's Quickies Anthology but with the extra scenes and story /character progression, it really took the idea to another level. Because this book was originally a short novella, the basis of the first half is very similar, the plot progresses quickly with the cheating aspect playing its sordid hand very early on, but it's what comes after that is the true basis of this story. How Jessica and Kage fall in insta-love and how based on the foundation on which their relationship was built, raises some serious trust issues with our girl.
Kage is dreamy. A stunning, hardworking, rock god of a man who has been unhappy for a long time. Never felt he belonged and tricked into a marriage he didn't necessarily want, Jessica shows him another way, but no one said that falling in love was easy. Given the circumstances on how they met, moving on and allowing yourself the freedom to embrace the unconventional is scary just as much as it is exciting.
But, don’t be fooled; the emotions are heartfelt and the connection between Jessica and Kage is really beautiful. Even though this focuses on cheating it doesn't demean or strip away the fundamentals of the main story as a whole, which is in-fact a love story between two people who were brought together under deceptive circumstances and made the best of what they had, which really is something special.
The sex is hot and the connection between the two main protagonists is electrifying, although I would have liked this book to be a little longer, only because I love Jade’s writing and never want her stories to end. <3

Be Careful What You Wish For is a unique twist on the love triangle/infidelity story.
It starts with Jessica, a college student living away from home in Colorado. Jessica is a dedicated student who has used her brains to escape her unhappy and unfulfilled life at home with her alcoholic mother. Jessica works at a bar to pay for her studies and manages to just get by, however when her trusty yellow car breaks down again, she finds herself in a bit of a pickle.
A friend who has helped her out in the past (in exchange for a little oral payment)is able to help her again, but she is going to have to find $800 or be without a car (impossible as she works across the city until late at night) Her prayers are answered one night when she is propositioned by a customer. The proposition? Honeytrap the husband of the customer to prove that he is cheating on her. Surely, she won't take up such a ridiculous offer.... but when the much needed $800 is waved in her face, can she afford to refuse?
Accepting the mission, Jessica's finds herself face to face with Kage. Instantly she is attracted to him, and soons finds herself doing the dirty deed in a hotel room.. For Jessica though this has turned into more than a way of fixing her car. Kage and her instantly share a deeper connection and she could quite possibly have met her soul mate.
I really enjoyed this book. Yes it is a book about infidelity, but the author has added the unique twist that makes it much more palatable than other books that delve into this taboo subject. Jessica is a normal college student, living hand to mouth and wanting to give herself a better future than her past. I liked her.
Kage... he is a super cool!! A gorgeous, tatted rock singer he is and has been unhappy in his marriage for a long time, meeting Jessica is a major turning point for him. Both of the characters have pretty shitty back stories and I think this is what draws them to each other even more. The chemistry they share may be quick but it is certainly there and written very well. The steam as you come to expect with this author is there in droves.
This book makes you question whether a relationship can truly succeed when the foundation is a questionable one. Can you ever trust a cheater and will the insecurities this creates ruin even the love shared by soul mates?

Cheating: This is a subject that most people abhor. Many people have been a victim of.... and a few (very few) will admit to having committed it. Jade C. Jamison has tackled an incredibly volatile topic with grace and honesty. Be Careful What You Wish For broaches infidelity in a very real way but from a whole new angle.
This is about a wench of a woman, paying another woman to seduce her husband to prove he is a low life cheater.
In walks Jessica, a struggling independent college student with a car on the fritz, and no way to pay for repairs. Destiny brings in a loud mouth and rude table of women, who after many drinks, proposition Jessica to try and seduce one of the husbands to prove he is a cheating bastard. Jessica, who has morals immediately says "no", and tries to walk away, until they up the offer. Jessica, without a car is not a functioning woman so the offer hits that magic $ amount she needs.
Who could blame her... if she succeed then it's proof that he is the one in the wrong, right?
In walks sex on a stick, Kage - yes, how can anyone with the name Kage not be sex on a stick?! Not only is he a hottie... but he is a broken soul, and a really really good guy. Most of us would pay to have this man handed to us, trust me on this! His character is pretty much faultless, until that final push comes to shove and they experience an incredible connection, he even turns her down... at first.
I won't spoil it for you, but obviously you know a little or a lot of sumthin' sumthin' happens and this is where I freaking love JADE! She takes this original story, and this volatile topic, and opens up a complete can of worms not usually seen in a "cheating" book because Jade goes Deeeeeeeeeep!!! I mean, just imagine the insecurities you would have if you got the Sex on a Stick to good to be true guy by getting paid to seduce him, then how could you ever trust him?
Once a cheater always a cheater, right? But remember Mr. Hottie is a little broken. So, Sex on a Stick -Broken Soul-Good Guy-Bass Playing Rock God - I think all that's left is for him to walk on water in the Book Boyfriend department.
A wonderfully written story with a beautiful eye to detail on a not so very nice subject. Please do yourselves a favor and read this NOW!!!
