Book 2 in the If I break series. This is a ongoing storyline and therefore please read books 1 & 1.5 before embarking on Almost Broken or indeed before reading this review.
So Lauren Scott is finally reunited with her husband and has introduced him to his child. That however is the easy part. Secrets and lies still surround them as well as those closest to them having concerns about them having any type of relationship. Will 2 people be able to connect when so much hurt has already been caused?
This is a brilliant addition to the series. Lauren is determined that whatever happens to her marriage her child will not suffer. She is willing to place herself in a situation that could ultimately break her, but she does it not just for Caylen but for her husband as well. It is at times heartbreaking, but you feel the hope that she still clings onto, that the love Mr & Mrs Scott once had can shine through.
You get to learn more about Mr Scott, his family, friends and the life that she was so in the dark about. You will think that hope may just be there for them, then BAM, another question, another secret and your heart will break. The ending is genius and you will feel your heart drop knowing that harder times lay ahead and that we are going to have to wait until In Between Broken releases in early 2015 to see where the story goes.
Well done Portia on another brilliant instalment, I now wait with baited breath and with my fingers crossed that Mr & Mrs Scott can finally find happiness together as a family.
