TRUTH
Teaser
“Good for you.” He leaned toward her, his eyes devouring her entirely, until she questioned her
own presence. “Your ability to admit your displeasure is refreshing. It encourages me to be honest,
too.”
Claire did her best to glare, “Honesty. That would be a refreshing change.”
His expression remained soft and so were his words, “You should know ...I am sorry.”
The world as Claire knew it, shifted. Perhaps it was an earthquake, they do happen in
California. Why couldn’t he be domineering or abrasive? That she could resist. But, apologetic, in
the depths of her soul, she never expected to hear those three words.
“What?” She tried unsuccessfully to subdue the overpowering trembling. The volume of her
voice rose exponentially with each phrase, “You’re sorry?” The years of submission, incarceration,
and domination bubbled out. No, not bubbled–gushed. This was not his house. She was not
sequestered away from the love and support of others. She’d say whatever she wanted, and then
tell him to leave. If he didn’t–she’d call security. They were after all, on her call log. “Well, Tony,
I believe I need a little clarification. Tell me what exactly you’re sorry about. I’ll gladly give you a
few options.”
The fury surging through her veins wouldn’t allow her to remain seated. She stood and paced,
around the coffee table, in front of the large windows, back to the chair and again to the coffee table.
She felt his eyes on her, as she made multiple slow and methodical loops. Her mind was a whirlwind,
a tornado, of words. Each syllable vehemently rushed to get out. Instead of opening the flood gate,
Claire took a few deep breaths. She wanted to proceed slowly, clearing away the debris cluttering her
mind, and choose the right words. Finally, she began, “First, you’re sorry for invading my privacy
for years, years before I even knew you existed. Second, you’re sorry for kidnapping me, isolating,
controlling me, and manipulating me. Third, you’re sorry for lying to me, pretending you cared
and oh yeah, marrying me. Fourth, listen carefully Tony, this is a big one...you’re sorry for framing
me for attempted murder, resulting in incarceration in a federal penitentiary.” She sat back down,
arms once again crossed over her breasts. It was the most direct she’d ever spoken to him, and it felt
liberating. Unfortunately, the resentment coursing through her veins wouldn’t allow her to relish her
new found independence.
She expected her words to incite anger; after all, she’d experienced his anger before.
Nevertheless, carelessly and unapologetically Claire forged ahead. “I would prefer the words, but
you are welcome to say, one through four, if that’s easier for you.”
He leaned forward. Cautiously she looked up into his face. Her body trembled. The cause may
have been the fury she’d just released, or perhaps fear of his anticipated reaction. Then she took in
his expression and without warning the trembling stopped. His eyes were soft, the color of melted
chocolate–even sad, overflowing with regret. He reached for her hand and gently tugged. Slowly,
Claire released her appendage, allowing it to sit in his large palm. Tenderly he closed his fingers
encasing her petite hand.
“I’m deeply sorry for one and four.” He rubbed the top of her hand with his thumb. “I did
provide you with an alternative destination for number four.” Claire exhaled audibly, Tony
continued, “I’m not proud of two, but three would never have happened without it.” His tone
deepened and slowed, “I am not, and never will be sorry for three. And, for the record, I never lied
about or pretended to love you. I didn’t realize it at first, but I have loved you since before you knew
my name.” He slowly lifted the hand he held and lowered his lips to the firm soft skin. “And, you
forgot our divorce. I am sincerely sorry for that also. Had I known you would be released so soon,
we could still be married.” He placed her left hand on her knee, and stroked her empty fourth finger.
“You could still officially be mine.”

Truth - By Aleatha Romig

Ok... I had to let this book simmer a bit in my psyche before review... My delicate, almost crushed psyche. Thanks a lot ms. Romig. Where can I forward my therapy bills?
Book one totally murdered my psyche...until the last pages. Then it ignited a fire within me to rush straight into this book. I ran into the flames. I jumped in the deep end of the pool.... I need a tshirt stating I survived these books. These books, this story... Tony the sociopath evil monster and Claire the lost soul will make you scream, cry, shudder, smile, and make you want to commit crimes....
Book three... I will be medicated until it exists... Plz ms. Romig... Take pity on your dedicated readers... :/

You definitely need to wear your big girl pants when you read this series. Also, if you have a family - make crock pot meals or some freezer casseroles, because you won't want to put them down. I kept seeing "keep calm and love Tony" shirts, and while reading consequences, all I wanted to do was beat him senseless and call the cops, - yes call the cops on a fictional character......that's the kind of mind fuck these books are, they drag you in and all you can do is buckle up and keep your tray in the upright position. My friends Kelly Findlay and Elizabeth Santiago warned me.....they said....wait.....you will warm up to Tony and understand this shirt......I thought they were mad.....Kelly lives in England, so I thought....those Brits....WTF??.......Elizabeth, in Las Vegas....I thought...sin city has taken her brain.......what's she thinking? .... Soon i found out..........You Just HAVE to read it......This series is not to be missed. Aleatha Romig a fucking genius, I bow down to her. She pissed me off, she made me cry, she made me laugh, she made the hair on the back of my neck stand up while my stomach did complete sets of twists and turns. I hated these books, I love these books.....I wish I never found them, I am so glad I did.
I want to kick this author in the shin for what she put me through ......and I want to hug her ....and in the same breath tell her I love her for giving me the ride of my life. I absolutely can not wait for the next one..... Convicted....
This series raised the bar. Watch out all other books ....game on..

Prepare to buckle up and take a twisty-turny ride with this fast-paced, powerful, strategic page-turner of a sequel.
Yes, Aleatha Romig has hit the ball out of the park again! But I am delighted to announce that this time, my once tattered and torn mind remains fully intact. Whereas Consequences left me numb, Truth has ‘somewhat’ pacified. I’m not saying parts of this book is a walk in that ball park, it certainly isn’t as some events had me gripping my kindle in annoyance and frustration, but what is great about this second instalment is the vibe - it’s a total contrast to Consequences; a refreshing transformation as I embraced Claire’s newfound strength and freedom.
Anthony Rawlings’ character was all-consuming in Consequences, that I truly hated him. But… in ‘Truth’ he takes a little backseat in the earlier pages as we follow Claire as she adapts to her time in Prison, and her initial disbelief at being pardoned and released early. Her freedom should be a time of celebration and yet she knows that Anthony would never have agreed to her untimely release. Running from the enemy that is her ex-Husband, whose resources are unlimited, is the biggest challenge that Claire will ever face - except, she’s not bowing down this time as she puts on her investigator hat and delves deep into Anthony’s past. As her findings start to prove damaging, she knows she can’t go at this alone. Investing in the help of Simon’s ex-fiancé Amber and her Brother Harry, they start to unravel the mystery that is the Rawlings/Rawl’s empire.
However, Anthony isn’t giving up that easily. A part of his vendetta has been played, his promise fulfilled. She has suffered sufficiently and regardless of his past sins and Claire’s inability to ‘do as her told,’ the façade wasn’t all a fallacy. He wants her back and he will stop at nothing to get his way…
As new characters are introduced and a back-story unfolds, we learn that what we think is the ‘Truth’ may not always appear as it seems, especially when you don’t know who you can trust. Many questions that reared its head in Consequences are answered in this strategically ‘game of chess’ natured sequel as the pieces move and fall. Will she take the king? Will he take the queen? And who will make it first to, ‘checkmate?’
I knew this would hit the 5-star shelf. How could it not? Aleatha Romig is one clever lady! I felt myself going through a transition period while reading this. I won’t deny that some aspects proved predicable as I guessed correctly at a few things, but what’s truly remarkable is Anthony Rawlings was my public enemy number 1. I despised this man! But by the end of this book, I felt my loyalties waning as my allegiance started to make a 180 turn. I’m not all the way there and not totally convinced… but there could be hope for Mr Rawlings yet!

Princess’ Questions:
Q. In consequences we are taught to almost fear Tony and yet in
Truth, we see a different side to his character, he almost becomes
more human... what other character traits are we expected to
uncover in Convicted?
Aleatha - Tony’s metamorphosis is an ongoing process. He did
make significant strides in Truth; however, I believe many would
agree—he has a ways to go. This isn’t an easy process for him.
Claire has affected him in ways he never expected or wanted—
kinda like what he’d done to her. So, does this metamorphosis
continue into Convicted? I would say we meet different sides of
Tony and of Claire in each installment. It isn’t that they’re different
people; it’s that they both grow. The span of Consequences to the
end of Convicted is six years! I’ve read comments about Claire
giving in too fast. I have to wonder...Consequences was almost a
two year period. The entire series is six years! In my opinion, that
is more realistic that can I say series that span, oh, six months
from meeting to marriage to children...
Q. Princess Kelly referred to Consequences as
"Sleeping with the enemy on crack" how would you sum up this
series in one sentence?
Aleatha - The Consequences Series is a long, twisted, haunting,
experience. It isn’t just a series of books—it’s an adventure that is
both frightening and exciting. You, as a reader, don’t just observe, but live the experience with the characters. The thousands of emails and messages I’ve received confirm that The Consequences Series is a journey you’ll never forget! (I could have made that one sentence—but it would have broken all rules of structure and punctuation!)
Q. Given the dark nature of your series, how did you go about research?
Aleatha - I believe the things that happened in Consequences were a culmination of TV-shows, movies, books,
and personal experience. For example, I was watching Dexter—the season when he met Luna. The
person, who’d taken Luna, before Dexter saved her, videotaped her abuse. I remember watching the
scene where she’s horrified watching her own abuse. It so affected me that I can still see it in my mind. I
thought it was awful!!! Can you guess where I used that experience?
Q. Have you been surprised with the overwhelming support that Tony and the Consequences series
has received considering the darker subject matter and did you ever envision it becoming this
successful?
Aleatha - Yes!!! It especially surprises me with the number—the magnitude—of readers who have supported
Tony after just reading Consequences! Believe me, my friends and family were not among that group.
Truthfully, my mother couldn’t say the name Tony without adding “that SOB”; however, when she called
me after completing Truth, in tears, begging to know who’s on the island and saying, “Poor Tony,” I
KNEW I’d done the impossible!
As far as the support of the series—does it surprise me? OMG Yes!!!!!!! I’m humbled and honored.
When I wrote Consequences, I had no plan to share it with anyone but family. The fact my sales
numbers are nearing 100,000 BLOWS MY MIND! All I can do is say, THANK YOU to each reader who
recommended it to a friend—it hardly seems like enough. Nevertheless, “Thank you!”
Q. So tell us Aleatha, do you have any new standalone novels or book series in the pipeline and if so
would it follow a similar theme or are you looking to branch out in a new direction?
Aleatha - I do! I have at least two series running through my head. I honestly haven’t done much to work on them,
I’m kinda busy with Convicted’s release and Behind His Eyes, but they’re there! Now that I’ve given
notice with my day job, I hope to have more time to write! I’m so excited!!! (You’re the first person I’ve
publicly told!)

You must stick to your CONVICTION, but be ready to abandon your assumptions - Denis Waitley
CONVICTED
"With the open doors looking out to the crystal blue sea, their room was only slightly more private than the lanai. However, it was their room. Madeline and Francis respected their privacy. As Claire’s bathing suit fell to the floor, she realized they’d yet to speak. And still, they’d conversed more than some couples did in a lifetime. They’d greeted one another, discussed the pleasantries of the tropical morning, and assessed that each was doing well. Laying on the soft comforter with her arms above her head, the man she loved gazing down at only her, and the large ceiling fan methodically moving the humid air, Claire’s world was right. Had she planned on her morning taking this turn? No. Was she willing? Without a doubt."

Now that I have simmered a bit.... I have kinda figured out why I am feeling that I don't like this book.....
I hate him...I mean truly truly hate him. I hate Anthony!!
He is evil. He is a sociopath...a true evil sociopath.
This is the first book I have read where the dominating abusive controller truly will never be able to redeem himself. He is a stupid stupid man in spite of his intelligence...his money or power. How he could do all that to a truly good woman...
I also never saw the twists coming...and I think I have not hated anyone so much besides my ex... The are soooo alike... After much contemplation, i believe i have "compartmentalized" my feelings and narrowed it down. I feel lied too.......completely and utterly deceived by believing like every woman does... We can train the bad boy.. I can make him truly luv me and be the good man I see trying to escape the evil. If I luv him enough...if I sacrifice myself enough.
In reading this book, it has sucked me into mindf*** and I honestly feel after reading this that I am Claire and have lived the lies committed against her by Tony... That is how this book makes me feel.
I want revenge... Book 2 is good off the bat.

I can't even write a review now. I need to sit with this story, amazing, absolute madness . Loved it.

Kelly - 5 handcuffs
Aleatha Romig has mind-fucked me senseless. I can't say I totally enjoyed the experience, but what I will say is this, 'she's also a goddamn genius'!
Let me reiterate:
I have never in my life read a book where I loved it and literally fucking hated it at the same time. To have a book that hooks you in, dragging you deep, delivering every single myriad of emotion to almost the point of pain, to then take your hand and lull you into a false sense of security is absolutely inconceivable, but she did it! I felt myself starting to relax. I questioned motives and why the sudden change of events but I desperately wanted to believe in redemption and at one point I thought it ‘almost’ deserved.
But then… I had the rug whipped out from beneath me, and I wanted to run for the hills.
Seriously…
This book scared the living shit out of me! It was completely unpredictable. The facets of Anthony’s character were astounding; with an untamed monster lurking beneath those dark depths you didn’t know what the hell he was going to do next. I felt like I was reading on ‘eggshells.’
In terms of the movie world, it reminded me of Sleeping with the Enemy… but on crack! I cannot emphasise enough how amazing this book would be on the big screen. It’s the ultimate in psychological thrillers that has the capability to shock. Don’t compare this to any dominant alpha-male erotica romance based story. It isn’t anything like that. It’s a psychological thriller with a protagonist that is a psychotic sociopath on a vengeance mission.
Anthony Rawlings is the entrepreneur poster boy, the ultimate businessman, his wealth and success unprecedented. And yet appearances can be deceiving... he is also controlling, possessive and unrelenting and there were times when I hated him. HATED HIM! With Anthony I felt like that deer in headlights. I wanted that near miss, closed my eyes in the hope that everything got better, to then be hit like a freight train in the last 20%. I wanted to be strong for Claire, but actually... I was Claire. Romig turned a 3rd person narrative into a first person perspective making it one of the cleverest books to ever grace my kindle.
I was mind-raped, literally and figuratively. This book gave me a true insight of victimisation. I was with Claire the whole way, took this journey with her and at times wanted to question her actions and shake the ever-loving shit out of her, but at the same time, I understood why she took them. Anthony has got to be the most manipulative book character to ever hit my reader list. He’s manipulating me now; the rat-bastard is still doing it because I can’t get him or this book out of my head! My mind is awed at how good this story was, but it’s also fractured, the residue is not dissipating, therefore giving me a book hangover from hell. So I HAVE to dive into ‘Truth,’ the 2nd instalment because I NEED to be with Claire right now, I need to see this through with HER!
This is no love story. The violent and sexual scenes are not graphic but they entice enough to identify exactly what is happening, and it made me want to scream! Revulsion knocked on my door countless times, and yet I just had to know, I couldn’t stop reading, but I did it for Claire and I’ll do it again! So far ‘Truth’ is amazing, and I know it’s going to be another HIT for me - Another book that will sit next to this one, on the 5-STAR SHELF.
My advice: Be brave and delve deep, but wear your ‘Big Girl’ pants, because you are going need them.
