Affliction (Knights Rebel MC, #2) by River Savage
Three little words are all it takes to rip his world apart. Lost in his own affliction, Sy has been living in a darkness that he doesn't ever want to let go of.
Until she arrives and shines her light so bright that nothing else mattered.
She was only in it for the chase, for the thrill of capturing the unattainable.
But what happens when her world shatters around her, spiraling her into the darkness beside him?
Can his affliction be her resurrection?
Or will two lost souls living in the depths of deception let it destroy them?

Book 2 in the Knights Rebels MC series. Each book in this series is a standalone story with different characters, but in my opinion it will only enhance your reading experience if you read Incandescent first - because it's really good :)
Sy is a loyal member of the Knights Rebels and was born into the club. He hasn't always been a member though. Deciding he didn't want to patch in, he moved away, became a tattoo artist and had a happy and fulfilled life. That is until the most tragic event changed his life forever. He found himself returning to his home town and the family he knew he could rely on and who would always have his back. Happy to meander through life without attachments, his life has moved on, his heart hasn't.
Holly is the ultimate party girl, happy go lucky, vivacious and always up for a good time. When her best friend starts dating the president of the local MC, she is right up for surrounding herself with hot and horny bikers. What she doesn't expect is Sy; definitely hot, but more mean and moody than horny. So begins a story of cat and mouse. The more arrogant he is, the more she wants him. This isn't one sided though, Sy wants a taste of the beautiful Holly but he is determined to leave her behind afterwards.
When Holly is kidnapped, Sy saves her from being killed but what he can't save her from is herself. Holly is left a different person and he is determined to find his Holly again.
I love my MC stories, from the most violent and gritty to the lighter side of the genre. I would place this series somewhere in between, however this book is different again.
Affliction starts over the same timeline as Incandescent, so don't worry I haven't told you anything you wouldn't already know if you have read book 1. This was a tale of 2 stories really. The start of the book is your typical alpha biker and good time girl, but then the direction changes and BANG this book becomes a heart wrenching journey between 2 people damaged and changed forever by tragic events.
Sy starts as this arrogant, damaged man happy to go through life on his own because he will be less hurt that way. The changes he makes to save Holly and bring her back from the brink is beautiful to read about. The losses he has had in his life are devastating and your heart will weep for him. Reading Holly's journey is just as heartbreaking. She is the girl everyone wants as a best friend, loving, caring and above all fun. After her kidnap and the trauma she goes through she becomes a mere shadow of herself, unrecognisable to those around her and my god, so very sad. As a woman you will empathise with her pain and you will pray that she can see the light at the end of the tunnel. These 2 characters go from fuck buddies to so much more and it is a heartbreaking and ultimately heart warming journey that River Savage takes them on.
I initially rated this at 4.25, but have raised this to 4.5 once I reviewed my notes. River Savage tackles several sensitive subject matters and she does it with style and in a very sympathetic and real way. The characters she has created will make you feel so many emotions because of the way she transforms and develops them. I applaud her writing and her imagination but also her bravery in taking what is generally a hard and gritty genre and adding a emotional and heartbreaking edge to it.
I Usually look forward to 1 members story. I have to say that I am looking forward to each and everyone coming up. I know from just the two books that I have read in this series that they will be wrote beautifully and each will be very different. She has created a club of men that I seriously NEED to know more about and as quickly as possible.
If you are looking for an MC read packed with angst and emotion then I highly recommend Affliction - A MUST READ!!
